CPD is developing a portfolio of residential architecture. Shelli Park, Principal, has studied architecture and design since she was young, paying attention to the world around her. Shelli began working on jobsites in the construction industry in 1999. In the process she studied the process of construction, the integrity of structural members, and witnessed the bones and guts of a building, including the plumbing, wiring, and HVAC firsthand. The art of structure, function and the experience of a space inform her design. She moves easily within conceptual space, assimilating the client's input to arrive at a design that satisfies a project's design program. Shelli is as focused on the seemingly mundane details as the overall structure.

Shelli continues to study the ever-developing world of architecture as new materials are developed and new technologies emerge. Where possible, Shelli utilizes sustainable building practices.

Each CPD project is based on the development of the design program with the client as partner. Needs are assessed, desired aesthetics taken in, and conditions are catalogued. The goal is to create a design that feels like an extension of the client, while, also, seamlessly reflecting the creativity and vision of the architect.

Seahurst ADU

The Seahurst ADU is an addition to the client’s existing garage which is situated 20 yards up the hill from the high bank waterfront home. The design program was to create an efficient but comfortable two bedroom home for him and his teenage daughter that takes advantage of the water view.

SeaTac Mobile Conversion

The design program includes creating a modern, fresh design that is low maintenance where there is an existing mobile home. There are many challenges to this site, but that is what makes it an exciting project, in my book.

Chelsea Park ADU

Purpose-built as a ceramic studio and an Airbnb, this ADU in the Chelsea Park neighborhood of Burien, WA packs a lot in a small space without feeling crowded.

AFFORDABLE ARTIST COTTAGE DEVELOPMENT - CONCEPT

I love the idea of cottage developments tucked into single family neighborhoods that blend into the single family neighborhoods without sticking out, but deepening the idea of community.
