SEAHURST
ADU
The Seahurst ADU is an addition to the client’s existing garage which is situated 20 yards up the hill from the high bank waterfront home. The design program was to create an efficient but comfortable two bedroom home for him and his teenage daughter that takes advantage of the water view. I used a beautiful existing stone chicken coop as the base support for the deck. The topography and history of the site creates such interesting visual layers. The client’s goal was to live in the ADU and rent the main house.
The project was interrupted ¾ of the way through the design process due to site challenges and municipal red tape. Out of frustration, the client put the property on the market.
While there are a few interior details and finishes that I would do differently in real life, I love the overall design and am disappointed that I won’t be able to walk through the space in reality. (See below for BEFORE photos)
